Is Pocket Pet really free?

Yes, completely free. No accounts, no trials, no paywalls. Install it and start using it right away.

What permissions does it need?

Three minimal permissions: Storage (to save your links, notes, and settings), Unlimited Storage (to support file storage beyond Chrome's default limit), and Active Tab (to read the current page title and URL when you save a link). That's it — no browsing history, no background tracking.

Does it work on all websites?

Yes, on every regular website. Chrome restricts extensions on a few internal pages (like chrome://settings or the Web Store itself), but on those pages you can still use the toolbar popup for the same features.

Can I sync across devices?

Yes! Links and settings sync automatically across every Chrome browser where you're signed in, thanks to Chrome's built-in sync. Notes and files are stored locally for performance, so they stay on-device.

How do I choose a different pet?

Open the pet bubble, go to Settings (the gear icon), and pick from 6 characters: Sloth, Cat, Orange Cat, Panda, Penguin, or Dog. Your choice syncs everywhere.

How many links, notes, and files can I save?

Up to 30 links, 20 notes, and 50 files (10 MB each). Plenty for everyday use — and we're working on increasing these limits.

What happens when I uninstall?

All data is removed cleanly. Nothing is left behind on your system or any server. If you reinstall later, you'll start fresh (unless Chrome Sync restores your synced data).
